Shyne: “Ten Years in Prison Destroyed My Ability to Deliver My Music!”
Back in December, Shyne told XXL that
it’s going to take time for him to regain the same rhyming form he had before
he was sentenced to prison for 10 years back in 2001.
“I spent 10 years in hell with murderers, all
types of degenerates and cats that want to kill you and all types of crazy
things…you don’t just come back,” Shyne says. “You got to learn that
studio again. For me, it’s taking me a while to find my way around the studio
again and get my voice back and get everything back.”
“Going to prison killed me,” he adds. “It killed
me.”
Though it’s taking him time, Shyne wants his fans
to know that he’s still fighting that fight of finding his sound and rhythm
with his music.
“I thank God to be able to express my emotions
thru song!” Shyne tweeted earlier today (September 4),
after releasing his new track “Meyer Lanksy,” featuring Pusha T. “When I first
got out of prison I was a zombie behind the mic! 10 years in prison destroyed
my ability to deliver my music! I didn’t even realize how much I sounded like a
zombie!
“But champions don’t stay down for the count,” he
added. “Champions fight!” —XXL Staff
