Don Jazzy agrees that Eedris
Abdulkareem is the reason why artistes are getting paid today
It does appear that other important figures in
the Nigerian music circles, agree with Eedris Abdulkareem’s stance that he is a pioneer of some
sorts in the industry.
Mavin Records boss and super producer, Collins
Michael Enebeli otherwise known as Don Jazzy, has openly agreed with Eedris
Abdulkareem, over his controversial statement that the likes of P-Square,
D’Banj and others are the reason why they are getting paid in the entertainment
industry.
This may have been as a result of his much hyped
confrontation with American rapper, 50 Cent, at a Star organised show.
Don Jazzy went on Twitter to support Eedris on
this statement. He tweeted: “But I won’t put it exactly like dat. I think what
he meant was (that) guys like him, our father 2baba, Tetuila, Eldee etc
inspired us to join d game. Therefore, if they didn’t inspire us to join the
game, we won’t be getting paid. #True. Baba tuale.”
Good News: Nigeria now ranked
39th among leading economies in the world
It is indeed a welcome development as Nigeria has
recently been ranked 39th among leading economies in the world. The
Minister of National Planning, Dr Shamsudden Usman, while inaugurating the
Vision 20:2020 central working committee said the ranking is based on the
latest indices on the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) performance level. With
prospects that the ranking would get better once the ongoing GDP rebasing
exercise had been concluded.
Gwen Stefani: Motherhood is terrifying
Gwen Stefani says juggling her work
and home life is a 'constant battle'.
The singer has two sons '
six-year-old Kingston and Zuma, four ' with her husband Gavin Rossdale. Gwen
has revealed that managing the demands of her family and her career can be
'overwhelming' at times.
'The only thing I really worry
about is, again ' like, I keep bringing it up because it's my biggest stress '
how do I do this and that? How do I do both? So that's like the constant battle
that I have every day. I do worry about that all the time,' she told the latest
edition of UK magazine Elle. 'When you first have a baby your life doesn't
change. I mean, you have a little less sleep and you drag these cuddly things
around and it's just amazing. But you still get to be you. Once they get to,
like, five, six and school, it starts to get, like, 'Wow, they've got real
problems. They're my responsibility.' Oh my god. That is overwhelming.'
The 42-year-old star is currently
promoting her new album with No Doubt, Push and Shove.
Gwen released solo material and
started a family while the band took time out, but admits she was crippled by
writer's block.
'I would never put myself through
it, it was just torture. I cried during those sessions,' she recalled.
When No Doubt reunited in 2008,
Gwen still struggled to feel inspired to work on a new record while also
looking after two young children.
'We tried but it was horrible. I
felt really hormonal, I felt really bad about myself. I couldn't write,' she
explained.
“I am the reason P-Square,
D’banj are getting paid today” – Eedris Abdulkareem
Eedris Abdulkareem, has suddenly
found himself in the news, more than usual these days. First, it was the former president Olusegun Obasanjo revisiting his
(in)famous ‘Jaga jaga’ song. Eedris did not take that lightly,
he issued a reply to the former leader via
Twitter, going as far as calling him his mugu.
And there is more controversy he
has thrown up. The ex member of the Remedies, has claimed that he was the
pioneer of the music industry, and he’s actually the reason why artistes like
D’banj and P-Square are getting paid. He even went as far as calling out for
anyone who wants to argue against his facts.

NBC Bans Wande Coal’s

D’banj signs HG2 as official
photographer, graphics designer
The Kokomaster, D’Banj is set to sign
HG2, one of the most popular graphic design outfits in recent times on the new
media i.e. Blackberry phones and other social network, to his new record label
DB Records.
HG2 has been brain behind so many
biggest concerts in Nigeria like the Nigeria Entertainment Award, US (NEA), The
Face-Off 2012, Ovation Red Carol, Industry Night, A.Y.O Grove, and worked on so
many top artiste like Wizkid, El-Phlex, Davido, Iyanya to mention few.
Olabode Akorede CEO HG2 took us
briefly how he come about HG2, “HG2 which was carved out of Hola Graphix, which
is the initial name of the outfit, it is a graphic outfit which brings life to
images and bring imagination to reality through design.

Men Lie More Than
Women
A new study has proof that men are significantly more likely
to lie than women - the average man tells three lies a day or 1,092 a year
compared to women who only lie twice a day or 728 times a year. This is for
those who ever doubted how trustworthy we women are or those who are fond of
saying that women lie more, or don't know their minds. Now you have to take
back your words :)
The research did find though that women were more likely to lie
when hiding new clothes from a partner, "with 39 percent of women feeling
to need to lie about their latest purchase compared to 26 percent of men."
"Women are also more likely to tell a lie or pretend to be busy to avoid a
phone call, with half of women admitting that they have lied to dodge a phone
call compared to just over a third of men reporting the same."
Isn't it interesting that we all lie about the same things though more people
of one gender than the other will lie more about one situation. For instance,
why would we even want to lie to our partners about the price of something new
we bought, or that we bought that thing at all?
I won't lie to you guys, but sometimes, it takes a few days for Atala to get
full details of my shopping, especially books.
That's lieing by omission, right? Or maybe it doesn't count.
Cosmo has compiled the top lies men told women, and I can say that I've got
some of them from men in my time. Some men, it is said, lie to their women in
order not to hurt their feelings, or because they cannot communicate better.
Like being stuck in traffic, complimenting their ladies no matter how bad they
look or saying everything is fine. In such cases, the lies are pretty harmless,
and part of life.
I would be more worried about those lieing about how much they're drinking,
those screening and rejecting your calls, or those out rightly meaning to
deceive you. Watch out for some passive-aggressive stunts as well, and respond
accordingly to protect yourself and your heart.
Lie # 10: “I’m Stuck in
Traffic”
Lie # 9: “It Wasn’t That Expensive”
Lie # 8: “I’m on My Way”
Lie # 7:”I Didn’t Have Too Much to Drink”
Lie # 6: “Sorry, I Missed Your Call,”
Lie # 5: “My Battery Died,” and
Lie # 4: “I Had No Signal”
Lie # 3: “No, Your Butt Doesn’t Look Big in That”
Lie # 2:”This Will Be My Last Beer”
Lie # 1: “Nothing’s Wrong, I’m Fine”
So ladies, when your man trots out these lines, look him in the eye and smile
cos you know the real deal. Then tell him to drop the other one.
But you have to know your guy o, if you have an honest, straightforward guy,
cherish him, and forgive the human foibles he may display sometimes.
To the men reading, which of these lies have you used, and why?
What Does It
Feel Like To Be A Self-Made Millionaire Under The Age Of 25?
At age 22, nothing fazes you, not even making a million
dollars. Making millions quickly becomes normal, and you realize you’ve
achieved nothing relative to the tremendous riches in this world; the skew is
so high in the upper echelons of wealth that your net worth is numerically
closer to someone on welfare than to Mark Zuckerberg. Millions is the level
where another bold kid with vision and drive could easily surpass you in a few
years, the level where it’s unclear if you wouldn’t be better off being one of
his share holding employees than out taking risks on your own.
It only takes a few expensive toys for millions to become
boring. Who wants overpriced versions of what everyone has? Fancy cars quickly
reveal themselves to be huge pains in the ass: stick shift is senselessly
annoying in the city and the wheels are constantly acquiring minute,
infuriating blemishes. You can only drive one car at a time, live in one house
at a time, be on one paradise island at a time. Objects drag you down; time is
the only thing that matters. Private jets are not what you do because you want
to have fun, they’re what you to do to save time (time = money). You do the
math: a private jet makes sense if it saves you x amount of time and your time
is valued at y. Surprisingly few people understand these calculations.
With a few million, you can’t afford the really cool
stuff like the Bat Cave, or immortality, or a private island doubling as a
giant research laboratory with a volcano in the shape of your skull. To really
level up, you need at least billions. This ambition is something few
understand. If you told them about it, they’d look at you with baffled disgust,
“How much money do you need? Why would you want that?”
It’s a solitary journey. You’re the youngest and most
underdressed person in any restaurant you go to. You give money to parents who
can’t hope to offer you career advice. After achieving more than most people
ever achieve financially, what are you supposed to do — retire for the next
fifty years? Not an option — you are not, nor have you ever been, like most
people. You can’t hold yourself to their standards or look to them for cues on
goals to strive for — can people your age really be considered your peers when
they are so different? For most, setting up 401Ks and avoiding credit card fees
is gospel, whereas for you it’s almost not worth the time relative to what else
you could be working on. Normal people are on a path containing marriage,
babies, some career ladder. The comfort of a patterned route is barred from
you: you alone must write your next act, because no one can afford to hire you.
Most people dream of a house, a family, money for
vacations. When you can have all of that at an age before you’re ready to get
married, what else is there to reach for? People think you’re lucky because
they imagine you share the same American dream, because they don’t know what
really drives you. What would be so terrible about settling down, traveling the
world, learning about wines, maybe writing a book?
The answer to this question is a slow, slow terror. Your
whole life you’ve monotonically increased in awesomeness. What if that trend
has ended? What if you peaked in your twenties? Will you ever be able to
surpass your previous success? Or was your success due to your reckless youth,
which is inevitably fleeting? What’s the difference between dying a millionaire
at twenty five and a millionaire at seventy five? What will it feel like to
look back years from now and think you haven’t changed at all, instead of
marveling at how far you’ve come? Shall you live and die like a beast, quiet,
leaving no mark on the universe?
Luckily, you didn’t major in philosophy. It’s not your
nature to be unhappy, and you genuinely love life. Everywhere you turn, the
world sparkles with distracting wonders, challenging problems, tantalizing
mysteries. You work on projects, learn new skills and ideas, visit new places,
love and understand yourself and others.

The research did find though that women were more likely to lie when hiding new clothes from a partner, "with 39 percent of women feeling to need to lie about their latest purchase compared to 26 percent of men."
"Women are also more likely to tell a lie or pretend to be busy to avoid a phone call, with half of women admitting that they have lied to dodge a phone call compared to just over a third of men reporting the same."
Isn't it interesting that we all lie about the same things though more people of one gender than the other will lie more about one situation. For instance, why would we even want to lie to our partners about the price of something new we bought, or that we bought that thing at all?
I won't lie to you guys, but sometimes, it takes a few days for Atala to get full details of my shopping, especially books.
That's lieing by omission, right? Or maybe it doesn't count.
Cosmo has compiled the top lies men told women, and I can say that I've got some of them from men in my time. Some men, it is said, lie to their women in order not to hurt their feelings, or because they cannot communicate better. Like being stuck in traffic, complimenting their ladies no matter how bad they look or saying everything is fine. In such cases, the lies are pretty harmless, and part of life.
I would be more worried about those lieing about how much they're drinking, those screening and rejecting your calls, or those out rightly meaning to deceive you. Watch out for some passive-aggressive stunts as well, and respond accordingly to protect yourself and your heart.

Lie # 5: “My Battery Died,” and
Lie # 4: “I Had No Signal”

So ladies, when your man trots out these lines, look him in the eye and smile cos you know the real deal. Then tell him to drop the other one.
But you have to know your guy o, if you have an honest, straightforward guy, cherish him, and forgive the human foibles he may display sometimes.
To the men reading, which of these lies have you used, and why?

Got a big decision to make? Sleep on it
As
we tuck ourselves into bed at night, little do we realize that we have the
chance to get some extra work done while we sleep.
The
unconscious mind has long been appreciated as a well of creativity from which
some of our greatest artworks, scientific discoveries and inventions have been
dredged up. But studies show it is also a powerhouse when it comes to
processing unwieldy amounts of information.
When
making complex decisions that require us to weigh multiple factors, some
researchers believe we can benefit from learning to combine our conscious
deliberations with unconscious processing.
The
idea that we only use a small percentage of our brain's capacity is
"completely ridiculous," according to Maarten Bos, who researches
decision making and the unconscious mind at Harvard Business School. "We
use our brain the whole time," he says.
We use our brain the whole time.
Dr Maarten Bos, Harvard Business School

We
tend to consider the time we spend sleeping, for instance, as a mentally
inactive period. But sleep is associated with better memory performance, and
"slow-wave" sleep in particular has been shown to enhance our ability
to make mental connections and integrate unassociated information.
This
sort of mental heavy-lifting during sleep could be useful for discovering
creative solutions to problems and could potentially help combining factors in
a way that allows us to make decisions, says Bos

The Theory of Wedding Potential by Adeshina ‘Tunde
The theory of Wedding Potential began with my personal experience and tries to explain this unspoken criterion many single women use when selecting who to date and have a relationship with. Some ladies I asked out in the past told me they liked me but couldn't date me. It wasn’t that they lied in order not to make me feel bad for rejecting me. I believe they genuinely did like me. I ended up making out with few of them yet they insisted they could not have a relationship with me. I had sex with one and as she was about to leave she said, “Hope you remember we are not in a relationship?”

Real Madrid Vs Barcelone Super Cup Preview
Last August’s match at Barcelona ended with both teams brawling on the field and Madrid coach Mourinho poking Vilanova in the eye with his finger. Barcelona won the Super Cup 5-4 on aggregate.
Mourinho apologised this summer, aiming to calm tensions before his first meeting with Vilanova as a fellow head coach.
“This isn’t about Pep (Guardiola) or Tito, this is about (playing) Barca and that’s how we’re approaching it,’’ Mourinho said on Wednesday. ‘’I think it’s a game that will have little effect and if I could choose, I’d choose what happened last year where we lost the Super Cup and won the league. If losing is a motivation for winning the league, I’d sign off on it now.’’
The match is the first of two legs. Madrid hosts the second leg at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium on Sept. 30.
Vilanova, who was an assistant to Guardiola last season, has had a better start to the league after Barcelona beat Real Sociedad 5-1, while Madrid drew 1-1 with Valencia.
Cristiano Ronaldo will be looking to shake off a forgettable opening game and show his Ballon d’Or credentials against three-time defending world player of the year Lionel Messi, who followed his record 50-goal season with a pair of goals in the La Liga opener.
Barcelona’s new signings will get their first taste of the ‘’clasico,’’ the name given to the matchup between Spain’s top rivals.
‘’The last few times we’ve gone to Barcelona, we’ve always played well and the result always goes down to the wire,’’ said Mourinho, who was originally banned from both legs of this year’s Super Cup only for the federation to lift his suspension and Vilanova’s one-match ban for a retaliatory slap.
It is the 12th meeting between Madrid and Barcelona since Mourinho’s arrival in 2010. Barcelona has won five and lost twice, including 2-1 in their last matchup at the Camp Nou in April. That victory wrapped up Madrid’s first league title since 2008.
