Don Jazzy agrees that Eedris Abdulkareem is the reason why artistes are getting paid today

It does appear that other important figures in the Nigerian music circles, agree with Eedris Abdulkareem’s stance that he is a pioneer of some sorts in the industry.
Mavin Records boss and super producer, Collins Michael Enebeli otherwise known as Don Jazzy, has openly agreed with Eedris Abdulkareem, over his controversial statement that the likes of P-Square, D’Banj and others are the reason why they are getting paid in the entertainment industry.
This may have been as a result of his much hyped confrontation with American rapper, 50 Cent, at a Star organised show.
Don Jazzy went on Twitter to support Eedris on this statement. He tweeted: “But I won’t put it exactly like dat. I think what he meant was (that) guys like him, our father 2baba, Tetuila, Eldee etc inspired us to join d game. Therefore, if they didn’t inspire us to join the game, we won’t be getting paid. #True. Baba tuale.”

Good News: Nigeria now ranked 39th among leading economies in the world

It is indeed a welcome development as Nigeria has recently been ranked 39th among leading economies in the world. The Minister of National Planning, Dr Shamsudden Usman, while inaugurating the Vision 20:2020 central working committee said the ranking is based on the latest indices on the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) performance level. With prospects that the ranking would get better once the ongoing GDP rebasing exercise had been concluded.

Gwen Stefani says juggling her work and home life is a 'constant battle'.
The singer has two sons ' six-year-old Kingston and Zuma, four ' with her husband Gavin Rossdale. Gwen has revealed that managing the demands of her family and her career can be 'overwhelming' at times.
'The only thing I really worry about is, again ' like, I keep bringing it up because it's my biggest stress ' how do I do this and that? How do I do both? So that's like the constant battle that I have every day. I do worry about that all the time,' she told the latest edition of UK magazine Elle. 'When you first have a baby your life doesn't change. I mean, you have a little less sleep and you drag these cuddly things around and it's just amazing. But you still get to be you. Once they get to, like, five, six and school, it starts to get, like, 'Wow, they've got real problems. They're my responsibility.' Oh my god. That is overwhelming.'
The 42-year-old star is currently promoting her new album with No Doubt, Push and Shove.
Gwen released solo material and started a family while the band took time out, but admits she was crippled by writer's block.
'I would never put myself through it, it was just torture. I cried during those sessions,' she recalled.
When No Doubt reunited in 2008, Gwen still struggled to feel inspired to work on a new record while also looking after two young children.
'We tried but it was horrible. I felt really hormonal, I felt really bad about myself. I couldn't write,' she explained.

Eedris Abdulkareem, has suddenly found himself in the news, more than usual these days. First, it was the former president Olusegun Obasanjo revisiting his (in)famous ‘Jaga jaga’  song. Eedris did not take that lightly, he  issued a reply to the former leader via Twitter, going as far as calling him his mugu.
And there is more controversy he has thrown up. The ex member of the Remedies, has claimed that he was the pioneer of the music industry, and he’s actually the reason why artistes like D’banj and P-Square are getting paid. He even went as far as calling out for anyone who wants to argue against his facts.

 

 

“Our lives is in danger” – SSS official laments

 
A senior official of the State Security service (sss) currently serving in Northern part of the country  has disclosed to newsmen  that the lives of those of them in the Northern part of Nigeria, including their families are in danger due to  the last week’s intelligence problem in the country. 
It was also revealed by the security source that two SSS operatives have been arrested and detained over the shameful leak of personnel records.
The operative who works in Abuja and other parts of the region said that the leaking identity has put them and their families under serioius security threats. 
He said for their restricted contacts information to have gone public is affecting their psychology and that of their families.

Obama invites Tinubu to watch him accept Democratic Party Presidential Nomination

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the national leader of Nigeria’s opposition Action Congress of Nigeria will from Monday join the American President, Barack Obama, leaders of the Democratic Party and thousands of party members and donors to attend the three-day National convention of the party in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Tinubu who was invited to the Democratic National Convention in his right as the leader of the opposition in Nigeria will be at the ring side as the Democratic Party conduct activities that will culminate in the nomination of President Obama as its candidate for the November 2012 Presidential elections in the USA.
Tinubu will be accompanied by Governor Kayode Fayemi, Mr. Dele Alake and Lagos Speaker Ikuforiji.

Call him the Starboy! Wizkid takes home two awards at the NEA in New York


EME’s Wizkid took home two plaques yesterday, at the Nigerian Entertainment Awards, which was staged in New York. The event was anchored by AY and Funke Akindele.
The sweet-faced singer, beat off competition from other nominees, to walk away with the awards for Artist Of The Year and Best Album Of The Year.
Wizkid and the EME crew have been on a tour of North America for some weeks now.

 

 

NBC Bans Wande Coal’s “Go Low” Video

Wande Coal‘s latest music video, ‘Go low’ has been given the sledge hammer treatment as it received a ban from the National Broadcasting Commission, barely two weeks after it was premiered.
We’re told the NBC has released a list of videos which included the MAVIN Records’ video which was directed and shot by Mr Moe Musa in the UK.
The NTBB  (not to be broadcast) ban however only restricts the video from being played on ‘Free-to-air’ TV stations. What this means is that viewers of cable TV stations can still watch the video as the ban doesn’t affect them from playing it.
If you remember Kenny Saint-Best disapproval of the video on twitter where she accused Wande Coal and Don Jazzy of re-introducing nudity back to music. KSB might be right afterall

University offers course on Michael Jackson


A University in the US is now offering a course on the late pop star Michael Jackson.
The course which will be taught at Clark Atlanta University will be covering the life of the mega star as a successful businessman and pop icon.
‘Micheal Jackson: The Business of Music’ will be taught by popular entertainment attorney, James Walker, who will talk about ‘Jackson’s approach to business, his work with record companies, tours, and legally marketing himself in terms of copyrights and trademarks’.
‘The goal is to help students who have an interest or future desire to work in the entertainment industry whether as an artist, attorney, business manager, accountant or other…[and] to really provide my students with a comprehensive understanding of the music industry and the business mechanics involved’, Walker says.
Clark-Atlanta University is the first to offer a class on the late legendary pop singer.

According to a number of reliable Hip Hop blogs, the supposed tracklist for G.O.O.D Music’s compilation album Cruel Summer has 12 tracks with a lot of features and our very own D’banj is set to make his G.O.O.D Music debut when the album drops on September 18. D’banj is listed on a track titled The Morning alongside Raekwon, Pusha T, Common, 2 Chainz, CyHi Da Prince & Kid Cudi. Cruel Summer is going to be a 12 track album and since this tracklist is not officially confirmed, a few more songs might still be added. According to new signing Yasiin Bey (Mos Def), the album was pushed back to September 18 to make way for more features. Artee Group to open 100 outlets in Nigeria
 Artee Group, owners of SPAR and Park&Shop is planning to open 100 shopping outlets in Nigeria in the next six years, BusinessDay can reveal.
The proposed outlets, BusinessDay understands, will come as hyper format units comprising of between 400 and 500 shops located within the outlets.
In order to actualise this plan, the Artee Group will be investing heavily in real estate through the development of shops and malls for itself and others.

Men Lie More Than Women
A new study has proof that men are significantly more likely to lie than women - the average man tells three lies a day or 1,092 a year compared to women who only lie twice a day or 728 times a year. This is for those who ever doubted how trustworthy we women are or those who are fond of saying that women lie more, or don't know their minds. Now you have to take back your words :)

The research did find though that women were more likely to lie when hiding new clothes from a partner, "with 39 percent of women feeling to need to lie about their latest purchase compared to 26 percent of men."

"Women are also more likely to tell a lie or pretend to be busy to avoid a phone call, with half of women admitting that they have lied to dodge a phone call compared to just over a third of men reporting the same."

Isn't it interesting that we all lie about the same things though more people of one gender than the other will lie more about one situation. For instance, why would we even want to lie to our partners about the price of something new we bought, or that we bought that thing at all?

I won't lie to you guys, but sometimes, it takes a few days for Atala to get full details of my shopping, especially books.

That's lieing by omission, right? Or maybe it doesn't count.

Cosmo has compiled the top lies men told women, and I can say that I've got some of them from men in my time. Some men, it is said, lie to their women in order not to hurt their feelings, or because they cannot communicate better. Like being stuck in traffic, complimenting their ladies no matter how bad they look or saying everything is fine. In such cases, the lies are pretty harmless, and part of life.

I would be more worried about those lieing about how much they're drinking, those screening and rejecting your calls, or those out rightly meaning to deceive you. Watch out for some passive-aggressive stunts as well, and respond accordingly to protect yourself and your heart.

What Does It Feel Like To Be A Self-Made Millionaire Under The Age Of 25?
At age 22, nothing fazes you, not even making a million dollars. Making millions quickly becomes normal, and you realize you’ve achieved nothing relative to the tremendous riches in this world; the skew is so high in the upper echelons of wealth that your net worth is numerically closer to someone on welfare than to Mark Zuckerberg. Millions is the level where another bold kid with vision and drive could easily surpass you in a few years, the level where it’s unclear if you wouldn’t be better off being one of his share holding employees than out taking risks on your own.
It only takes a few expensive toys for millions to become boring. Who wants overpriced versions of what everyone has? Fancy cars quickly reveal themselves to be huge pains in the ass: stick shift is senselessly annoying in the city and the wheels are constantly acquiring minute, infuriating blemishes. What would be so terrible about settling down, traveling the world, learning about wines, maybe writing a book?

Will you ever be able to surpass your previous success? Or was your success due to your reckless youth, which is inevitably fleeting? Beautiful model Amber Rose and her rapper fiancé Wiz Khalifa, who are delighted to have a little one coming on the way may get married sooner than they originally intended to, precisely October 2012, because Amber is expected to give birth to the baby in January and doesn’t want to have the wedding too close to her due date.


The 28-year-old model is set to quit smoking because of the baby on the way.
The insider claimed: ‘Amber’s already had to make some big lifestyle changes, like not smoking cigarettes anymore. ‘As a model she’s used to having a thin waist, so this is going to be an adjustment for her.’

Nigeria is the world’s next economic success story – Obama



The president of the United States of America, Barack Obama, has asserted that the progress of Africa is invariably linked to Nigeria’s. He also emphasized that Nigeria was the world’s next economic success story and that is why the US government is doing all it can to assist its Nigerian counterpart in removing barriers to trade and investments. Obama made this known at the ongoing US-Nigeria Trade and Investment Forum, which is being put together by the Nigerians in Diaspora Organization (NIDOA), in the US capital, Washington DC, where he was represented by Ambassador Eunice Roddick.





Lil Wayne 'undone' by success



Lil Wayne feels "undone" about his MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) recognition.


The rapper founded American record label Young Money Entertainment, which currently includes signed artists Drake, Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne himself.


All three musicians are nominated for gongs at the VMAs at the beginning of next month, which Lil Wayne is happy about.

However, the star admits that his spirited streak makes him long for even more success.

"The competitive person I am, it makes me feel great, awesome, excited and all that... but overall, it makes me feel undone," Lil Wayne told MTV News in Las Vegas.

17 People Beheaded in Afghanistan For Attending A Party

Fifteen men and two women have been found beheaded in Afghanistan’s southern Helmand province. Officials said the victims were killed by Taliban insurgents as punishment for attending a mixed-sex party with music and dancing.
The bodies were found in a house near the Musa Qala district, 46 miles north of the provincial capital Lashkar Gah, on Monday, said the district governor Nimatullah, who goes by only one name.
“The victims threw a late-night dance and music party when the Taliban attacked,” on Sunday night, Nimatullah told Reuters.

Rancard sees opportunity in Nigeria’s cashless regime

As Nigeria test runs its cashless regime in Lagos State, Rancard, a software company, has said its payment application software (payapps) for banking terminals network will enhance services in the cashless regime.

Briefing journalists recently in Lagos, following its entrant into the Nigerian mobile Value Added Service (VAS) market, Ehizogie Binitie, chief product officer, Rancard said the continent’s VAS market will generate revenues of over $11.5 billion by 2014, adding “Mobile VAS is an underserved opportunity.”

He said: “There exists huge opportunity for Nigerian innovation beyond the borders of Nigeria. We are basically creating a conducive environment where the barriers for really smart Nigerians who are creating value everyday is significantly reduced.”

 Chocolate City signs R&B singer Nosa

Chocolate City has added another artiste to their roaster by signing the talented Gospel-esque singer Nosa Omoregie.

Nosa was signed back in May 2012 but things have been kept on the low, pending an elaborate unveiling planned to hold in a few weeks. Nosa will serve as the record label’s first R&B singer.

A US court has ordered Samsung to pay Apple $1.05bn (£665m) in damages for infringing intellectual property.
The jury decided several Samsung devices had infringed iPhone-maker Apple's software and design patents, but rejected counter-claims by Samsung.
Apple will now seek import bans on several of its rival's products. Samsung has said it will appeal.

Real Madrid and Barcelona renew their Spanish Super Cup rivalry on Thursday (today) when Tito Vilanova faces Jose Mourinho at the Camp Nou stadium, where the two coaches famously clashed last year.
Last August’s match at Barcelona ended with both teams brawling on the field and Madrid coach Mourinho poking Vilanova in the eye with his finger. Barcelona won the Super Cup 5-4 on aggregate.
Mourinho apologised this summer, aiming to calm tensions before his first meeting with Vilanova as a fellow head coach.
“This isn’t about Pep (Guardiola) or Tito, this is about (playing) Barca and that’s how we’re approaching it,’’ Mourinho said on Wednesday. ‘’I think it’s a game that will have little effect and if I could choose, I’d choose what happened last year where we lost the Super Cup and won the league. If losing is a motivation for winning the league, I’d sign off on it now.’’
The match is the first of two legs. Madrid hosts the second leg at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium on Sept. 30.
Vilanova, who was an assistant to Guardiola last season, has had a better start to the league after Barcelona beat Real Sociedad 5-1, while Madrid drew 1-1 with Valencia.
Cristiano Ronaldo will be looking to shake off a forgettable opening game and show his Ballon d’Or credentials against three-time defending world player of the year Lionel Messi, who followed his record 50-goal season with a pair of goals in the La Liga opener.
Barcelona’s new signings will get their first taste of the ‘’clasico,’’ the name given to the matchup between Spain’s top rivals.
‘’The last few times we’ve gone to Barcelona, we’ve always played well and the result always goes down to the wire,’’ said Mourinho, who was originally banned from both legs of this year’s Super Cup only for the federation to lift his suspension and Vilanova’s one-match ban for a retaliatory slap.
It is the 12th meeting between Madrid and Barcelona since Mourinho’s arrival in 2010. Barcelona has won five and lost twice, including 2-1 in their last matchup at the Camp Nou in April. That victory wrapped up Madrid’s first league title since 2008.
